Originally from El Paso, Texas, Jeanne graduated from Franklin High School. She pursued a degree in history and Education and graduated in 2006 from Texas Tech University. She has been teaching in the public-school sector for nineteen years, both middle and high school. She is TEA certified/licensed in Social Studies 4-12 and Special Education K-12. Jeanne has also completed 30 hours of Gifted and Talented training and is GT certified.” Her work history includes being a Secondary Social Studies Teacher at EPISD (August 2007 – April 2025) and a 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher and Basketball Coach at Garland ISD (August 2006 – May 2007). In these roles, she focused on building relationships, managing classroom behavior, enhancing engagement through interactive methods, and maintaining student records.
Jeanne has experience with Project-Based Learning (PBL) and is familiar with its components like group collaboration and active learning, though she has not specifically taught at a STEM school. She also has some understanding of the Reggio Emilia philosophy, particularly regarding classroom environment and student documentation. She emphasizes a calm, patient, and nurturing classroom where bullying is not tolerated and students feel supported. She promotes collaboration and social-emotional growth through checking in with students and fostering a kind and open environment. She assesses student progress through frequent assessments, including exit tickets and vocabulary checks.
