Head of School for the 2024-25 School Year

The Cherry Hill School (TCHC) is seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as the Head of School. In this position, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing all aspects of our educational institution. This senior position requires strong management skills, educational expertise, excellent judgement and a passion for student success. Our new Head of School should continue and grow our warm and welcoming program with a rigorous and developmentally appropriate curriculum that is supportive of all children, families, and staff.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Management: Hire, train, mentor, and supervise teachers as well as other support staff/employees, including substitute teachers, an office manager, curriculum specialist and social media/marketing consultants.
  • Accreditation: Maintain and support continuous school improvement as defined by Cognia. Provide evidence of effective practice and performance of TCHS in relation to the accreditation standards, including verbal and written reports to our accreditation body, the school board, families and others as needed.
  • Administration: Establish and implement policies and procedures. Ensure that the school is in compliance with all institutional, local and state requirements.
  • Curriculum: In collaboration with curriculum specialists, ensure that we provide an excellent, age-appropriate program that exceeds state standards, sets our students up for success and is consistent with constructivist philosophies and project-based learning approaches.
  • Grants: Actively research and pursue grant opportunities to support the school’s sustainability and special projects.
  • Parents: Foster a sense of community, communicate regularly and consistently, respond to questions and concerns promptly, and offer occasional educational opportunities that support TCHS families.
  • Marketing: Develop and implement on-going marketing and recruitment plans to ensure TCHS’s growth and sustainability.
  • Finance: In collaboration with the Office Manager and the Board’s Treasurer, develop and implement the budget and ensure compliance (invoices, record keeping, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll).
  • Communication: The Head-of-School should be prepared to be the kind, effective, and persuasive public face of the school. She/he should be able to maintain regular communication with teachers, staff, students, families, the board of directors, community donors, potential parents and community influencers—verbally, in one-on-one and group settings, and in writing.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Development, Educational Leadership, or other related field
  • Three years of educational leadership experience
  • Five years of teaching experience
  • Possess a strong understanding of educational philosophies with accompanying respect for children in line with a constructivist philosophy that supports Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM), and Project-based Learning
  • Familiarity with/ability to ensure our curriculum meets and exceeds the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
  • Financially literate
  • Strong leadership, management, organizational, conflict-resolution and team-building talents
  • Strong written and verbal communication along with an enthusiastic and caring nature; someone who builds consensus and works effectively with a wide array of individuals
  • Familiarity with the Jewish religion, practices and traditions a plus, but not required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required; Hebrew a plus
  • Certification in Educational Leadership or as a School Principal by the State of Texas a plus

About The Cherry Hill School 

TCHS is a private Jewish school that offers a holistic educational experience as the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and being a good person. Our unique and nurturing learning environment services Jewish families and those from all religions and backgrounds in the El Paso/Juarez region. Every day at The Cherry Hill School, children gain the confidence, knowledge and skills that they need to make a difference in our world.

TCHS currently serves around 50 students in 1st through 5th grade, but the school will be expanding to 8th grade, starting with the addition of 6th grade for the 2024-25 school year. Our education program is structured around core Jewish values, offering Hebrew and Judaic instruction, and a constructivist-based curriculum. TCHS is also a STEM accredited campus with instructional experiences that center around project-based learning, Language Arts acquisition, and the Arts, more broadly. Our classroom environments are Reggio-inspired and designed to nurture intellectual collaboration and social-emotional development. We have an active board that includes education specialists, and a well-developed parental involvement program to provide support to the administration. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organizaiton.
