Margaret Birk

Curriculum Specialist

Meg Birk was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she began her studies at The University of Utah. She completed her degree in education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education and Art at UTEP in El Paso.

She started her career as a kindergarten teacher and spent twenty-eight years as a classroom teacher before moving to the district level. There, she contributed to the design and implementation of several programs, including a New Teacher Mentor Program and Reading Intervention Institutes for new and novice teachers. During this period, she assisted in training over 1,500 teachers for EPISD.

After thirty-six  years with EPISD, Meg retired and later accepted a position with The University of Texas in Austin, serving as a senior field trainer analyst with the Academic Foundation Initiatives at the Institute for Public School Initiatives (IPSI). In this role, she worked with district and campus instructional teams to provide support and professional development.

She began her work with The Cherry Hill School soon after it first opened its doors as Head of School Curriculum. This year she has moved to a part-time position as a Curriculum Specialist doing what she loves best, working with teachers and children. She also serves on the executive board of the Paso del Norte Chapter of The Texas Association for the Education of Young Children and has received the Marquis Who’s Who Award for work in her field. She is married with five children and eleven grandchildren.
