Sandy Garza has been an educator for 32 years. She earned her BBA at Southern Arkansas University and her Masters in Education, and Principal Certification, at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Sandy spent her first 10 years as an educator at an elementary school where she was the Gifted and Talented Coordinator. In the classroom she spearheaded innovative ways to address the needs of her students such as: team teaching, looping with her students for three years and multi-age classrooms. The success of these methods led to her being selected as a Mentor for the two largest districts in the city.

For the next fifteen years, Sandy focused on the areas of curriculum and instruction where she worked with curriculum specialists and teachers to improve math and science instruction. She provided staff development in best practices for the classroom and was also a District Science Fair Coordinator.

Sandy served on the Texas State committees responsible for developing standards and assessments. Her focus was Early Childhood and Elementary classrooms. After this she served as Director of Early Childhood for four years. In this role she had the opportunity to revamp classrooms, design curriculum and instruction, and provide resources to best address the needs of El Paso’s youngest students.

We are truly fortunate to have Sandy’s wealth of experience and her inspiring enthusiasm guiding The Cherry Hill School.
